In no particular order,

Lazy Eye – Silversun Pickups
Atlantis To Interzone – Klaxons
Pachuca Sunrise – Minus The Bear
Hope (Original Mix) – Lemon & Einar K
Les Djinns (Trentmoller Remix) – Djuma Soundsystem

The Err-what? song for the week:

Rocks Tonic Juice Magic – Saves The Day

Morbid lyrics sang with utmost nonchalance.
I’m gonna cut your flesh away.. -yawn- maybe after this cuppa tea.

Check their website out

Let me take this awkward saw
And run it against your thighs
Cut some flesh away
I’ll carry this piece of you with me
Because all I can say tonight
is that I hate you
But it would be all right
If we could see each other sometime
If I could somehow make you mine

And if not I’ll take my spoons
And dig out your blue eyes
I’ll swallow them down to my colon
They’re gonna burn like hell tonight

Updates!

If there are constant problems to the streaming, please do let us know and we will try to check the connection/quality settings.

Also, if our current listeners have like-minded friends who are open to new sounds, do let them know of our existence! Simply point them to this website!

Added the Audiozue player to show the current album playing. Due to WordPress.com’s restrictions on usage of Javascript, there is no way we can show the artist and track title of the current song directly (if anybody knows a way, please do contact us!). Do take note! Clicking on the album art will lead you to the iTunes store (that’s where you can see the artist and track). If you do not want to have the stream disrupted (if you’re using iTunes to stream), or you loathe anything Apple-related, then clicking it is ill-advised.

We will not hesitate to put up our stream on a proper streaming host, even if it means having to pay for it out of our own pockets. To do that, however, we will need a larger listener base to justify the decision. A streaming host will mean that we will be able to broadcast the stream at higher quality, as well as being able to have more listeners on the stream at the same time.

We are also thinking of setting up a show showcasing music done by upcoming/starting local bands, perhaps a 1-hour or 2-hour show that will play twice a week. Timeslots can be decided later on, its still in the pipelines as Mika has her exams this coming week, and I’m currently trying to finish up whatever I can as mine’s in May. Local bands who are interested in this idea, do email us!

Those wondering what Mika has been doing, she has been doing mostly behind-the-scenes work for Radio Eclectica. Oh and lotsa mugging.

That’s it for now!

In no particular order,

Angelica – Lamb
Lazy Eye – Silversun Pickups
Radio – The Southland
Maps – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Standing In The Way Of Control (Nu-Sense Remix) – The Gossip

Frontier Psychiatrist – The Avalanches (bloody song never grows old)

The Err-what? song for the week:

I Started A Blog That Nobody Read – Sprites

Funny lyrics, simple melody but ultimately makes you go “huh? what?”

Check them out

I started a blog, which nobody read
When I went to work I blogged there instead
I started a blog, which nobody viewed
It might be in cache, the topics include:

George Bush is an evil moron
What’s the story with revolving doors?
I’m in love with a girl who doesn’t know I exist
Nobody hates preppies anymore

Review: Untitled Audio (Nitrous Oxide Remix) – Mike Koglin vs P.O.S.

Untitled Audio

Genre: Uplifting Trance

Floating. Wafting through the air. Falling. Hallucinating.

That’s the breakdown for you. Something about the melody that makes you wanna raise your hands up, and feel the rush coming. Feel it tingling up and through the body, as the beats slowly come back and strip you down to your instincts. Jump to the beats. The rush has just kicked in, relish the moment, and await the next one.

Review: Silent Alarm [Album] – Bloc Party

Silent Alarm

Genre: Indie/Art Rock

Okay so this has been out for awhile already, but the songs are still refreshing thus far. The album is brilliant, not just a selected tracks, but the whole record. The style is unique, a refreshing change from the usual stuff I listen to.

Helicopter / Banquet gets us off in the right direction, both energetic and catchy, its bound to get you up up and about.

This Modern Love is absolutely the best track off this album. Its simple, yet it stays with you the longest. The subtle repeating rhythm riff, accompanied by Kele’s vocals is amazing, and the lead guitar by Russell isn’t complicated, but yet acts as a form of garnish to the whole song.

So Here We Are / Plans are the sort of songs that Russell (lead guitarist) probably had a ball of a time creating and perfecting. Lotsa dreamy delay effects, not the least bit overbearing in any way, instead it complements the song entirely.

An album that’s definitely worth listening to.

Review: All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone [Album] – Explosions In The Sky

All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone

Genre: Post-rock

Yet another album release by instrumental post-rock group Explosions In The Sky, and despite it being more of the same fare, one can never seem to have enough of their sound. My favourite track off this album is definitely “So Long, Lonesome”. Its clean innocent guitar, coupled with a warm piano-driven lead, moves this serenader with purity. A meticulously constructed, understated awakening that is about to happen, not with a big bang, but a gradual ascent, and the culmination that occurs is an enchanting, subtle ripple.

“Its Natural To Be Afraid” is another good track, and at 13.27mins long, its the longest song as well. With most songs topping 4mins at most currently, this is actually a relief. In fact, this song is perfect for the roads as it eats up travelling time, while providing a lush aural landscape for the tired soul.

A bonus CD is supplied as well, providing remixes of the songs on the original CD. Most of them are just as good as the original, and are a good addition to the main sound of Explosions In The Sky.

Review: England – Bloc Party (A Weekend In The City B-Side)

A Weekend In The City

Genre: Indie/Art Rock

Sweet twinkly dreamy notes punctuate this melancholic number as it depicts the anarchic-like state of youths in Britain. One of the B-side bonus tracks off their new album, A Weekend In The City, this track is, in my opinion, underrated.
